MILES Sampa has announced that the Patriotic Front has withdrawn from the presidential race in the forthcoming August general elections. This decision comes after the former ruling party already paid the K100,000 presidential nomination fee and adopted former health minister Dr Chitalu Chilufya as its presidential candidate. The withdrawal follows months of internal wrangles and legal battles centred on disputes over the party’s leadership, following the death of former president Edgar Lungu on June 5, 2025, who is yet to be buried.
