FORMER Mwinilunga UPND MP Newton Samakayi has resigned from the party, saying there is not value left for him. He says it was wrong for him to be told he cannot re-contest his seat, when people on the ground want him. Recently, President Hakainde Hichilema named and shamed Samakayi, Gary Nkombo, Elijah Muchima and Elias Mubanga for “refusing” to vote for the Bill. Among the four former MPs, Muchima and Mubanga have decided not to contest any seat under the party, while Nkombo has resigned to stand as an independent candidate for Mazabuka Central.
