THE Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has disclosed that some staff at certain depots are indulging in corrupt activities. In an interview, Monday, FRA Board Chairperson Suresh Desai said there are incidents indicating corruption at some selected depots, with money being demanded before services are provided. He adds that over a million tonnes of maize had been bought so far. “Well overall it has it has gone very smoothly, there’s over a million tonnes now that has been bought and the farmers have been paid for that maize. We are using the digital system which is working very well and payments are being achieved very properly within three days. So, overall farmers are happy.
