MINISTRY of Defence Permanent Secretary Maambo Haamaundu has mourned the death of Zambia’s first indigenous Zambia Air Force (ZAF) Commander, Lt Gen Peter Zuze (Rtd). Haamaundu has described him as a gallant airman who distinguished himself in service. Lt Gen Zuze served as ZAF Commander from 1972 to 1976 before becoming Deputy Chief of the Zambia Defence Force under General Kingsley Chinkuli from 1976 to 1977. He later succeeded Gen Chinkuli as Chief of the Defence Force, serving from 1977 until his retirement in 1978.
