TRANSPARENCY International Zambia (TI-Z) has expressed concern over the statement issued by the Chinese Embassy in Zambia, noting that the Embassy did not take time to read its report on Chinese mining. TI-Z further calls on the Chinese Embassy, Chinese mining companies and other Chinese entities to instead implement measures to mitigate the risks identified in the report. Recently, TI-Z launched a report on Mitigating Governance Risks Associated with Chinese Mining Investments, which indicated that political interference and regulatory capture are among the governance and corruption risks associated with Chinese mining operations.
