FORMER religious affairs minister Godfridah Sumaili has described the moving the National Day of Prayer to December 29 as a “satanic betrayal” to Zambians. In 2015, late former president Edgar Lungu declared October 18 as an annual public holiday to observe the National Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance and Reconciliation. On Thursday, government, in agreement with the Church Mother Bodies, has moved the National Day of Prayer from October 18, to December 29, consolidating with the commemoration of Zambia as a Christian nation. Commenting on this in an interview, Friday, Rev Sumaili said the Church Mother Bodies did not consult the Christian community before the change. “It’s a betrayal, it’s a satanic betrayal.
