IT IS gratifying to learn that Parliament has adopted the Report of the Committee on Parastatal Bodies which recommends, among other things, that the office of the President should be removed from the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) board. This development follows the Auditor General’s Report on the Accounts of Parastatal Bodies and other Statutory Institutions for the Financial Year Ended December 31, 2020, which found glaring irregularities in the operations at the parastatal mother body. According to committee chairperson who is also Zambezi East UPND member of parliament Brian Kambita, the move will promote good corporate governance at IDC.
