WE have found it hard to move passed the remarks made by former PF secretary general Davies Mwila who says that Mr Given Lubinda is a white man and cannot be President of Zambia. Those remarks are dangerously divisive. For a senior political figure who once worked closely with Mr Lubinda under two different administrations, it is astonishing that Mr Mwila has suddenly discovered Mr Lubinda’s “skin tone” as a political concern. Even on the day when Mr Lubinda acted as President of the Republic, Mr Mwila never questioned his origins or complexion. Yet today, for political expediency, he chooses to weaponise race.
