SOCIALIST Party leader Dr Fred M’membe has spoken a hard truth which many in the opposition are uncomfortable confronting: uniting the opposition in Zambia is extremely difficult. On this, he is absolutely right. Unity, unlike division, demands sacrifice, patience, humility and clarity of purpose. These are virtues that are often in short supply in our political space. However, where we respectfully part ways with Dr M’membe is on the suggestion that the primary reason for opposition disunity lies with the ruling UPND.
