REPORTS surrounding the proposed Zambia-United States health financing agreement have exposed a very uncomfortable national dilemma. According to the New York Times, the U.S state department is considering withholding lifesaving assistance to people living with HIV/AIDS in Zambia, as a negotiating tactic to force the signing of a deal which gives the United States more access to Zambia’s critical minerals. This matter has triggered a lot of emotional reactions.
