TONSE Alliance president Brian Mundubile has every right to sympathise with jailed Patriotic Front members and to raise concerns where he believes their rights are being violated. That is part of politics and democracy. Every accused or convicted person deserves access to lawyers, fair treatment and due process under the law. But there is something deeply troubling about the campaign message Mr Mundubile is beginning to build around the release of jailed PF officials. When a man aspiring to lead a country starts telling citizens that “the freedom” of figures such as Raphael Nakacinda, Bowman Lusambo and Joseph Malanji will only come after a change of government, one begins to wonder whether the opposition truly understands what ordinary Zambians are...
