PF Lawyer Kelvin Bwalya Fube is spearheading a Peace Concert meant to raise compensation funds for the affected victims of the recent City Market inferno.
And Fube’s Communications Consultant Chileya Chilekwa says Dr Kenneth Kaunda will grace the concert which starts at 10:00 hours until 18:00 hours today.
Speaking to News Diggers! in an interview, Fube said he understood the pain that the affected traders were going through and also on called on other wishers to come to the aid of the victims.
“There are thousands of people that trade at City Market and when you have an inferno like that, the lives that are changed are a lot. How are they going to pay for their school children and how are they going to put food on the table? This is a catastrophe, its a disaster and anybody with a sense of concern for their fellow human beings must be touched. Where do they start from? We have to be moved, we have to be compassionate for each other,” said Fube.
“Kind words will not help anybody in times of need, if they ask for bread give them bread. You can’t be asking them to just pray, that’s not right. If they are naked, cloth them first, that’s what they need at that time and it’s important that we keep things in perspective. I want those traders to be assisted so that they can go back to their normal lives. ight now my concern is to organise the concert that is coming up. Help us get information out there that we are selling T-shirts, we are selling Caps and Chitenge to help the victims of the City market fire.”
Chilekwa said all was set for the concert which was organised in partnership with the Office of the Vice-President, Ministry of Tourism and Pillars of Peace Zambia. He added that all political parties were invited to the event.
“Peace Concert tickets are being sold through Computicket at Shoprite outlets; they are going for k20 for ordinary and k500 for VIP,” Chilekwa.
T Sean, Ephraim Mutalange, JK, Dalisoul, Pilato and Macky 2 are among the performing artistes at the event.
