Luanshya Rainbow Party district Chairman Christopher Chilangwa has been suspended from his position for allegedly misappropriating party funds meant for campaigns in the ongoing ward elections.
In a statement today, Copperbelt Rainbow Party Spokesperson Dennis Kapukulo said the party decided to suspend Chilangwa to allow for smooth investigations and possible prosecution.
“Socialist Rainbow Party on the Copperbelt wants to announce the suspension of Luanshya District Chairman Cde Christopher Chilangwa with immediate effect for misappropriating party funds meant for campaigns in Chitwi ward in Luanshya Central Constituency. According to article 9.0 of the Rainbow Party Constitution on disciplinary sanctions, Cde Chilangwa has been formally suspended from participating in all Party activities to allow smooth investigations and possible prosecution to be conducted,” Kapukulo stated.
Kapukula stated that Rainbow was a party of discipline and that any member found abrogating the party constitution had to be dealt with accordingly.
“Rainbow Party is the Party where discipline is highly recognised and given first priority that must be observed and maintained at all levels by all socialist Rainbow party members. We also appeal to all our members especially in the two wards where we are participating in the by-elections that is Luansobe ward in Mufulira and Chitwi ward in Luanshya to exhibit high level of integrity and discipline during the campaigns, let us walk by the same rule and mind the same thing for the party will not tolerate indiscipline regardless of where it is coming from,” stated Kapukulo.
