INSPECTOR General of Police Graphel Musamba has described the alleged involvement of some police officers and a police commissioner in the sugilite scandal and their subsequent arrest as embarrassing. Police on Saturday announced the arrest of 19 people for allegedly mining 23 tonnes of Sugilite Mineral Ore without a license in Muombe Mine area in Chembe District. Among those arrested, six are from the police service and include; Northern Province Police Commissioner Gloria Mulele, Police Constable Sydney Mulongwe, Police Constable Simon Chiwala, Police Chief Inspector Masauso Jere, Police Sergeant Mulenga Chilufya and Superintendent of Police Joshua Chimuli.
