THE Chipata Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a 38-year-old traditional healer to nine years imprisonment with hard labour for stock theft. Denis Phiri of Katete was charged with stock theft Contrary to Section 275 (1) and 272 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia. It was alleged that between October 12, 2023 and October 13, 2023 in Chipata, Phiri did steal 11 cattle valued at K39,000 property of Peter Ng’wane. When the matter came up for plea before Senior Resident Felix Kaoma, Phiri pleaded not guilty. However, during trial, Phiri admitted to the charge, saying that he got them from Mununga farms.
