ELECTORAL Commission of Zambia Chief Electoral Officer Brown Kasaro has told the Constitutional Court that ECZ did not breach any provisions of the law or Constitution during the August 2021 general elections. Kasaro has also told the ConCourt that ECZ abided by the requisite laws during that period. This is in a matter in which a youth activist, Michelo Chizombe, petitioned former president Edgar Lungu seeking a declaration that he is not eligible to contest any future presidential elections. Chizombe, who also cited the ECZ and the Attorney General as respondents, also wants the court to declare that Lungu’s participation in the August 2021 general elections was unconstitutional.
