SOCIALIST Party leader Fred M’membe has described the Lusaka City Council’s move to increase monthly rentals for shops, stands, and booths in all markets and bus stations by a huge margin, as painful. But LCC Public Relations Manager Chola Mwamba says the local authority has increased the fees to match the economic value of the shops, which is K1,000. She explains that some people were illegally profiting from the shops by renting them out at K1,000 after only paying the council K200.
