THE National Assembly has adopted a motion moved by Kankoyo UPND MP Heartson Mabeta, urging government to recapitalise the National Health Insurance Management Authority (NHIMA) in order to prevent it from collapsing. The motion was seconded by Isoka PF MP Marjorie Nakaponda. In his debate earlier, Mabeta urged government to provide immediate financial recapitalisation to NHIMA to stabilise its operations. “In light of the challenges, there is an urgent need for government to recapitalise NHIMA for the following reasons: stabilising cash flows – immediate capital injection will enable NHIMA to clear outstanding liabilities and restore liquidity.
