POLICE in Chingola yesterday fought running battles with illegal miners popularly called jerabos who ran amok after being told not to mine from dump 16 belonging to Mimbula Minerals. Chingola District Commissioner Raphael Chimupi, who expressed disappointment with the conduct of the miners, said the protesting jerabos also went into markets where some properties were destroyed in the process. “We have these illegal miners that wanted to illegally start mining at dump 16, which is a dump under Mimbula Minerals.
