BANYANA Banyana coach Desiree Ellis says for a coach who raised the standards of women’s football in Zambia, ex-Copper Queens coach Bruce Mwape does not get the credit he deserves. Mwape is a certified cult hero in women’s football having managed three Africa Cup of Nations qualifications and a bronze medal, one World Cup qualification and two Olympic Games qualifications. However, after seven years at the helm of the Copper Queens, Mwape was sidelined and will not be able to drill the team at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), a tournament that he helped the team qualify for.
