ZESCO Limited says it owes the Energy Regulation Board over K400 million, part of this being legacy debt. And the Committee on Parastatal Bodies has revealed that Zesco defaulted in making payments to the Energy Regulation Board Strategic Fund in amounts totalling K7,773,228. The latest Auditor General’s report revealed that: “Section 43(3)(c) of the Energy Regulation Board provides that; Subject to the approval of the Minister, the Energy Regulation Board may charge and collect fees for services provided by the Energy Regulation Board. Consequently, ZESCO Limited is compelled under this provision to make payments into the ERB Strategic Reserve Funds.
