CHITA Lodge has sued an Indian businessman in the Lusaka High Court demanding over K2.3 million in damages for loss of business from a failed sale of ostriches and African Grey Parrots. Chita Lodge is lamenting the collapse of its planned sale of 100 African Grey Parrots and 30 ostriches to Zain Abdullah, claiming that the deal fell through after Mohamed Patel allegedly told Abdullah that the birds were illegally obtained. Chita Lodge, which has cited Patel as the defendant in the matter, wants damages amounting to US$80,000 or K2,320,000 from the failed sale of the birds.
