THE Professional Teachers Union of Zambia (PROTUZ) says government’s decision to recruit 3,500 teachers in 2026 is a progressive move that will help improve the pupil-teacher ratio and enhance the quality of education. Meanwhile, the Union has expressed concern over the lack of budgetary allocation for long-standing human resource issues such as teacher upgrades and appointment confirmations.
