THE Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has announced a reduction in pump prices for diesel to K26.86, while petrol has reduced to K25.29.

In a statement, Friday, ERB Board Chairperson James Banda said pump prices for Kerosene and jet A-1 had been reduced to K27.02 and K28.71 per litre, respectively.

“The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has reviewed the domestic petroleum product prices for August 2026. During the period under review, international oil prices for petrol and kerosene/Jet A-1 generally declined, although markets continued to be affected by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. The average price of petrol decreased from US$105.82/bbl to US$96.92/bbl, while the average price of kerosene/Jet A-1 decreased from US$158.97/bbl to US$123.59/bbl. Meanwhile, the international oil price of diesel remained relatively stable, increasing marginally from US$125.65/bbl to US$126.58/bbl. During the same period, the Zambian Kwacha depreciated against the United States Dollar, moving from K18.35/US$ to K19.01/US$. Consequently, movements in international oil prices and the exchange rate were the key factors considered in determining the pump prices for August 2026. Based on the above factors, the ERB has reduced the pump prices of domestic petroleum products for August 2026. Petrol has been reduced to K25.29/litre, diesel to K26.86/litre, kerosene to K27.02/litre, and Jet A-1 to K28.71/litre. The changes in pump prices are shown below,” stated Banda.

“Petrol: (July price) K26.15, (old price) K25.29, variance (0.86), Diesel (old price) K28.11, (new price) K26.86, variance (1.25), Kerosene: (old price) K28.32, (new price) K27.0, variance (1.30), Jet A-1: (old price) 30.27, (new price) 28.71, variance (1.56).. The revised prices will take effect at midnight on 31st July 2026 and will remain in force until the next price review.
