THE Ministry of Mines has announced the suspension of mining operations at Mukabamo Copper Mine in Mwense District, Luapula Province, following the collapse of its tailings dam earlier this week. In a statement, Friday, Ministry Principal Public Relations Officer Shamwinda Tembo said preliminary investigations by the Mines Safety Department determined that the mine failed to comply with a compliance order issued in March, which mandated that all mining companies adhere to sound environmental management standards.
