THE arts industry is up in arms over the proposed Copyright Bill 2025. Former Zambia Association of Musicians president Maiko Zulu and ex-National Arts Council chairperson Mulenga Kapwepwe are warning that if the Bill is passed in its current form, it could strip artists of their earnings, independence and control over their own creations. They point out that it takes away the exclusive rights to authorise the use of their work and earn from it, core protections that form the basis of copyright.
