POLICE in Mazabuka have detained a 45-year-old man for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl on two occasions. Police say the suspect was apprehended by the Kaleya residential area Community Crime Prevention Unit (CCPU) members, before being handed over to the police. In a statement, Southern Province Police Commanding Officer Moono Namalongo said the case of defilement was reported to Mazabuka Police Station on February 12, at 22:30 hours by the victim’s 48-year-old mother, a resident of Kaleya Station Compound. “She reported that her juvenile daughter, aged 10, of the same residence, was allegedly sexually abused by a male suspect, aged 45, also of Kaleya Station Compound.
