ACTING Leader of Government Business Jack Mwiimbu yesterday withdrew the Public Holidays (Amendment) Bill No. 76 of 2026 from the National Assembly. In his debate, Mwiimbu clarified that the Bill’s intention was not to abolish existing holidays but to eliminate the practice of granting substitute holidays on Mondays. However, after contributions from Chilubi PF MP Mulenga Fube and Shiwang’andu PF MP Stephen Kampyongo, Mwiimbu, in closing the debate, indicated that the Bill be withdrawn from the floor of the House.
