TODAY marks one year since Zambia’s sixth Republican President, Edgar Chagwa Lungu, died in South Africa. Yet one year later, the former Head of State remains unburied, a circumstance that has left many citizens bewildered, saddened and embarrassed. As the nation commemorates the first memorial anniversary of Mr Lungu’s passing, perhaps it is time to pause and reflect not on who has won or lost the various battles surrounding his remains, but on what Zambia must learn from this unfortunate chapter in its history.
