THE Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) says it has strengthened system controls around the issuance of Tax Clearance Certificates (TTCs) in a bid to address tax evasion and illicit financial flows. ZRA Corporate Communications Manager Oliver Nzala says the authority has observed a trend where some businesses register with the Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA) but fail to register for the tax types applicable to their operations. In a statement, Wednesday, Nzala said suspicious transaction reports submitted to ZRA by the Financial Intelligence Centre revealed instances of PACRA registered entities holding TPINs and conducting financial transactions without appropriate tax accounts.
