THE World Bank says Zambia may revert to World Bank loans next year, depending on its macro-economic performance. Zambia officially defaulted on its external debt on November 13, 2020, when it missed a $42.5 million coupon payment on its Eurobond. When Zambia defaulted on its external debt, the World Bank resorted to giving the country grants, other than loans. Asked during a media breakfast meeting, Friday, if the World Bank would revert to giving loans to Zambia after its debt servicing improvement, World Bank Country Manager Martine Valcin said there was that possibility, depending on the country’s improvement in macro-economic performance.
