THE cholera annual “ceremony” is back once again, and this time it has returned early enough to shame us before the rains have even touched the ground. Government has declared a new outbreak after recording 304 cases and 11 deaths across seven districts in five provinces as at September 29. Eight of those deaths occurred in communities, meaning people were dying before reaching health facilities. The first confirmed case was detected on August 13, yet by the end of September the disease had spread from Chibombo to Lusaka, Chilanga, Chongwe, Chiengi, Nsama and Chikankata.
