Veteran politician Vernon Mwaanga has expressed sadness at the death of Senior Chief Bright Nalubamba of the Ila speaking people of Mbeza area in Namwala district who died on June 6, after an illness.
In a statement, Mwaanga who worked closely with Senior Chief Nalubamba in the UNIP government described the traditional leader as an enlightened, progressive and foresighted chief who devoted his traditional rule to the development of his people.
“I was mortified by the death of Senior Chief Bright Nalubamba of Mbeza, in Namwala District of Southern Province. I worked with him during the days of the UNIP government, under the wise leadership of our first Republican president, Dr Kenneth Kaunda. He was an enlightened, progressive and foresighted traditional ruler, who devoted his traditional rule to the development of his people, promoting education, hygiene, clean water healthy living, animal husbandry and agriculture in general,” stated Mwaanga.
“He contributed in no small measure, to the freedoms and wellness of the people of Zambia, through his fearless, forthright and honest statements on behalf of the voiceless and downtrodden. The people of Mbeza and members of his family, have every reason to feel proud of this great man who has gone to be at peace with his creator.”
