Police in Kalomo of Southern Province have instituted investigations into the murder of a 59-year-old Monde Basic School head teacher who was shot dead as he was locking his vehicle on Wednesday.
In a statement, Thursday, Police spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo said the incident occurred around 20:00 hours at his house at Monde Basic School in Kalomo.
“Police in Kalomo of Southern Province received a report of murder that Benson Muyabi aged 59 years, a Head teacher at Monde Basic School was shot dead by unknown person. This occurred on 17th July, 2019 at around 2000 hours at his house at Monde Basic School in Kalomo. Acting on the report, police rushed to the scene of crime and confirmed the report and that the same was shot dead at the time he just arrived home from drawing water with his motor vehicle. The same is believed to have happened at the time the deceased was locking his motor vehicle,” stated Katongo.
“The deceased sustained wounds on the back and head. The type of firearm used is not yet known. The body is in Kalomo clinic mortuary awaiting postmortem. We have instituted investigations in the matter, we therefore appeal to members of the public who have information that may lead to the apprehension of the assailants to report to the police.”
