Air France KLM Martinair Cargo has announced a resumption of its freight services into Lusaka from Amsterdam in September, 2019, since stopping the service back in 2016.
In a statement issued from its Amsterdam Schiphol headquarters, Air France KLM Martinair Cargo communications and cargo press relations manager, Gerard A. Roelfzema, stated that freight cargo services will commence from next Tuesday following a review in the airline’s Africa market segment.
This would mean that Air France-KLM would return back to the Zambian airspace since originally exiting back in 2016 following an earlier stoppage in its passenger flights in 2014.
“On 3 September 2019, Air France KLM Martinair Cargo will reintroduce Lusaka (Zambia) to its full freighter schedule. Lusaka will be our thirteenth full freighter destination on AFKLMP’s existing schedule in Africa. After three years, Lusaka is returning to the AFKLMP Cargo Full Freighter schedule. The flight will operate once a week using a 747 full freighter aircraft. Departure will be on Tuesdays from Amsterdam and arrival/departure in Lusaka on Wednesdays. The first flight will be on 3 September, departing from AMS on the AMS-JNB-LUN-HRE-NBOAMS schedule,” Roelfzema stated in a press release availed by Zambia Airports Corporation Limited (ZACL) communications and brand manager Mweembe Sikaulu, Wednesday.
Air France-KLM Martinair Cargo is the Air France KLM Group’s dedicated air cargo business and remains the reference partner for the African continent with leading network possibilities, with 274 weekly frequencies and 40 stations.
In addition to the Group’s global network of passenger aircraft, they offer cargo main deck capacity on two Boeing 777 Freighters, four Boeing 747-400 Freighters and five Boeing 747-400 Combi aircraft.
