ZESCO says the 1000MW solar Power Purchase Agreement that it has signed with SkyPower Global won’t have an impact on the country’s electricity supply this year. In an interview, Zesco Spokesperson Matongo Maumbi said the agreement was a three-year phased project whose power would only be onboarded onto the national grid next year. In an interview, Friday, Maumbi disclosed that SkyPower Global would also set up a solar manufacturing plant in Zambia. “We have just signed the Power Purchase Agreement but in terms of the actual works, we are yet to see how fast they will move in to start the works but it’s a three-year project.
