ZAMBIA’S economy grew by 7.2 percent in the second quarter of 2026, down from 7.9 percent recorded during the same period in 2025, ZAMSTATS has revealed. Meanwhile, on an annual basis, Zambia’s economy grew by 5.4 percent in 2025, up from 3.8 percent in 2024. Speaking during a press briefing, Thursday, ZAMSTATS Statistician General Sheila Mudenda said second-quarter growth was mainly driven by the information and communication, agriculture, construction, mining and manufacturing sectors. “Gross Domestic Product (GDP) estimates for the second quarter of 2026 show that the economy grew by 7.2 percent from 7.9 percent in the second quarter of 2025.
