Farmer denies defiling granddaughter

A 78-year-old farmer has pleaded not guilty to defiling his granddaughter.

According to facts before court, Luckson Sakala had carnal knowledge of his granddaughter twice in December 2016 and threatened to kill her if she told anyone.

Sakala was allegedly fond of touching the juvenile’s breasts and on one occasion, her mother Betty Mwale and her sister witnessed an incident.

On both occasions, Sakala allegedly lured his granddaughter to his bedroom when she had gone to fetch water and had sex with her.

After the last incident, he read Mathew 6:6 to her and warned her not to tell anyone what had transpired.

However, her mother noticed her walking funny after a few days and she was forced to tell her what had been happening and the matter was reported to police.

Sakala pleaded not guilty before magistrate Faides Hamaundu today.
