Pearl of Health in court for supplying expired drugs

Pearl of health Hospital has been dragged to court for the supply of expired medicines contrary to section 60(1) of the Medicines and Allied Substances Act Number 3 of 2013 of the Laws of Zambia.

When the matter came up before magistrate Felix Kaoma this morning, Hospital Managing Director Professor Ataur Rahman was not present to take plea.

A lawyer representing the Hospital, Raymond Musumali, applied for an adjournment saying Prof Rahman was unable to make as he was attending a religious activity.

Magistrate Kaoma adjourned the matter to August 28, 2017 for plea.

It is alleged that on July 19, 2017 Pearl of Health clinic trading as Pearl of Health Hospital supplied one expired bottle of Neopeptine Liquid to Patricia Banda Mwiinga without lawful authority.

Hwy, even if the details of the case appear on the charge sheet, it is not necessary to mention the patient’s name in your reporting. There are certain things that are private like a visit to a doctor and the prescribed drug, just saying.
