A 33-year-old police officer of Lusaka’s Obama area has pleaded not guilty to a charge of indecent assault on females were he is alleged to have indecently assaulted a University of Zambia student by inserting his fingers in her private parts.

And a 44-year-old man of Lusaka’s John Laing Compound has also appeared in the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court for having sex with his step daughter and pleaded not guilty.

Gift Shimo is alleged to have on September 3, 2018 in Lusaka, unlawfully and indecently assaulted Kanyanta Phiri, a UNZA student.

The accused has since been granted K3,000 cash bail with two working sureties in the like sum.

Details in this matter are that, Shimo found the victim with her boyfriend at the University of Zambia grounds upon which he demanded for money, failure to which he was going to detain the couple.

When the couple informed him that they had no money, he sent the male partner away and remained with the woman whom he in decently assaulted by inserting his fingers in her private parts.

And when the matter came up before Lusaka Magistrate Faidess Hamaundu, Monday, Shimo pleaded not guilty.

He later applied for bail and was granted at K3,000 cash with two sureties, bound in the like sum.

The matter has since been adjourned to October 15, 2018, for trial.

Meanwhile, a 44-year-old man of John Laing Compound has pleaded not guilty to sexually abusing his step daughter.

Ackim Sichamba is facing one count of incest by males.

It is alleged that Sichamba in March, 2018, had carnal knowledge of his step daughter.

However, when the matter came up, Monday, Sichamba pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to him.

The matter has been adjourned to October 9, 2018, for commencement of trial.
