The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has entered a nolle prosequi in a matter in which Chifubu PF member of parliament Frank Ng’ambi was charged with assault on his wife.

This is in a case in which Ng’ambi was charged with Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm.

Particulars of the offence were that Ng’ambi, 58, on June 7, 2019 in Ndola allegedly assaulted his wife Agnes Ng’ambi after a marital dispute, thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm.

But the matter came up before Ndola resident Magistrate Changa Chitabo in chambers, Wednesday, the State informed the court that it was in receipt of instructions from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to enter a nolle prosequi.

“I Chipola Bako, Deputy Chief State Advocate, on behalf of the DPP of Zambia, pursuant to the powers vested in me by section 81 and 82 of the Criminal Procedure Code authorise the entry in record of proceedings that proceedings are discontinued against the accused person,” read the nolle prosequi.

Magistrate Chitabo then granted the application and discharged Ngambi, in absence as he was attending Parliament.
