THE Isoka Magistrates’ Court has fined 12 Ethiopians K10,000 each, or in default, nine months simple imprisonment for failing to appear before an immigration officer. In a statement, Monday, Department of Immigration public relations officer Namati Nshinka said the Ethiopian nationals aged between 24 and 30 were intercepted on July 25, 2022 following a tip-off from a member of the public. “The Isoka Immigration Office on 4th August 2022 secured the conviction of twelve Ethiopian nationals for failing to appear before an immigration officer contrary to sections 12(2) and 56(1) of the Immigration and Deportation Act No. 18 of 2010 of the Laws of Zambia.
