LUSAKA Magistrate Ireen Wishimanga has set February 6, 2026 as the date for ruling on former Foreign Affairs minister Joseph Malanji’s application for bail pending appeal. Meanwhile, the State has asked the court to dismiss Malanji’s bail application, stating that he has not demonstrated any exceptional circumstances whatsoever to justify the grant of bail. In September last year, Malanji appealed the four-year sentence handed down by the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court for being in possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime.
