THE Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) says it can only confirm that a candidate has been sponsored by a political party if the candidate produces an adoption certificate signed by that party’s Secretary General and president. The Commission has therefore asked the court to dismiss a petition filed by Green Party leader Peter Sinkamba and the People’s Alliance for Change (PAC). Sinkamba and PAC filed a petition challenging ECZ’s directive requiring a dual signature on adoption certificates by both a political party’s president and Secretary General.
