KINSHASA, Democratic Republic of Congo — Reports coming from Kinshasa say Police fired tear gas as opposition supporters clashed with pro-government activists in Kinshasa on Tuesday during nationwide protests against President Félix Tshisekedi’s proposed constitutional changes. The confrontation broke out shortly after hundreds of opposition supporters began marching through the capital, carrying flags of parties belonging to the C64 opposition coalition. Riot police had been deployed heavily along the planned march route and at major intersections before the protest began.
