In this audio (courtesy of ZNBC), First Lady Esther Lungu says there is need for for harmony and cooperation between the ruling party and opposition political party leaders.

According to ZNBC, Esther was speaking to their reporter Mark Ziligone after attending Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni’s State of the Nation Address recently.

Esther said politics should never be allowed to impede national development, adding that Zambia should emulate Uganda.

“What touched me the most is the way the President interacted with the opposition parliamentarians. The rapport that is there between the President and parliamentarians from both the ruling and the opposition party, the opposition party parliamentarians are willing to work with the government that is in place. That is supposed to be emulated, encouraged and that way you are assured of developing the nation,” said Esther.
