Retailers have hiked mealie-meal prices by an average of between K3 and K5.

A check at Ndola’s main Masala market on the Copperbelt found a 25KG bag of breakfast meal going at K74 from K69, while roller meal was trading at K64 from K59.

Retailiers have atributed the increment to the recently announced adjustment in fuel prices.

And a check at Zmart Pick and Pay found that a 25KG of national milling was trading at K79 while Antelope was trading at K75.

And some residents talked to expressed disappointment over the increase.

“This is a sad situation we are in now. It is a shame that we can be subjected to this life. Life will become unbearable now,”said Joseph Kalunga.

Meanwhile, the situation is the same in Lusaka.
