THE Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has revealed that it has spent over K78 million on by-elections this year against the approved budget of K75 million. In response to a press query, ECZ Corporate Affairs Manager Patricia Luhanga explained that the amount had been spent on 36 by-elections. “The Electoral Commission of Zambia always budgets for by-elections. Particularly for 2022, the Commission had an approved budget of K75 million. This was in view of the many election petitions that had been recorded after the 2021 General Election.
