THE Auditor General’s report on the Accounts of the Republic for the financial year ended December 31, 2022, has revealed a 97 percent reduction in misappropriated funds from K5,171,854 in 2021 to K135,207 in 2022. The report has, however, indicated an increase in overpayments from K9,421,440 in 2021 to K110,384,888 in 2022. Meanwhile, the audit findings have shown a decrease in total audit query amounts by 29 percent from K133 billion in 2021 to K103 billion in 2022. The report indicates that misappropriation of funds reduced in 2021 from K5,171,854 to K135,207 in 2022, showing a variance of K5,036,647.
