HOME Affairs and Internal Security Permanent Secretary Joseph Akafumba and his team yesterday had a hard time explaining corrective action which had been put in place against the findings of the 2022 Auditor General’s report when they appeared before PAC. And the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) called some Ministry of Home Affairs officers incompetent and uncoordinated after they continuously gave uncoordinated and misleading responses to queries on the audit findings. Meanwhile, Akafumba jokingly told the committee that the officers were failing to respond effectively because their blood pressure had gone up. Appearing before PAC, Tuesday, Akafumba submitted that the Ministry had unspent funds amounting to K29,310,272 which was mostly meant for procurement of equipment for the Integrated National Registration Information System...
